1897: Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi was born in Turku on June 13.He won a total of nine gold medals at the Olympic Games from 1920 to 1928.People built a statue of Paavo Nurmi in front aof the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki to commemorate him.

1905: Chinese composer Xian Xinghai was born in Guangdong on June 13.He is considered the heralds of modern Chinese music.The prolific musician composed over 200 songs, 2 operas and several symphonies in the 1930s and 40s, of which his Yellow River Cantata is one of the best-known.
