Today's Highlight in History:

1789：Storming of the Bastille broke out on July 14. Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on July 14th of each year. It was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French "nation", and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.
1789年，巴黎起义群众攻占象征专制统治的巴土底狱。从此每年的7月14日就被当作法国的国庆日。巴土底狱日被认为是现代法国的崛起：法国大革命时期君主立宪制开始解体，成立了法兰西第一共和国。

2001：The International Olympic Committee votes for Beijing to be the host of the 2008 Olympics on July 14. This is the first time that China had been bestowed this honor.
2001年7月14日，国际奥林匹克委员会推选北京为2008年奥林匹克运动会的承办城市。这是中国第一次承办奥林匹克运动会。
